The Kathleen C. Cailloux Humane Society of Kerrville, Texas

Dedicated to placing as many animals as possible in quality homes

About Us … Our History

The Humane Society of Kerrville was founded by nine ladies in 1985 who each put in $100 to help stray and injured animals. In 1989, they rented an old vet clinic (our prior shelter across from Wal-Mart on Junction Hwy) to house animals and provide grooming and boarding. One of the charter members later purchased the building and allowed the Humane Society to use it until her death, when it was left to the Humane Society.

In 1997, the Humane Society opened a resale shop to provide additional income for the Society. In 2002, through the generosity of the Kathleen C. Cailloux Family Trust and the Cailloux Family, the Society moved into new quarters at 2900 Junction Highway in Kerrville.

Thanks to several grants, we completed our new “Pick of the Litter” Resale Shop and celebrated our grand opening in June of 2013. Our old shop, formerly the Raleigh House, was moved and the space is now used for additional parking.  The new shop  is very spacious and continues to support our shelter by 60-70%, thanks to donations from our community and the wonderful volunteers that help us daily.  Behind our resale shop are two buildings, with the sidewalk leading to them. The first one is our office and our adoptable cats.  Next to the office building is our dog building with the adoptable dogs.

The Humane Society of Kerrville is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization and all contributions are tax deductible.  Support for the Humane Society comes from membership dues, memorials, contributions, bequests, grants, and fundraisers.
